Is It Time For The Annual Sevilla HOA Board of Directors Election!
It is now the end of September and the Board of Directors Election is about to occur or maybe not. The Annual Election which was scheduled for April has been delayed for five months due to incompetence that emanates from the current Board of Directors.
The Sevilla Homeowners Association during this 10-month election process has approved 3 sets of Inspector of Elections. First, there were 3 homeowners who were appointed as Inspectors of Elections, then the Board for some reason hired Majority Rules, the same Inspector of Elections that was involved in the Recall Election last fall that is subject to a lawsuit, and then for another unknown reason, Majority Rules was let go and Accurate Voting Services was hired to be the Inspector of Elections for this election.
Accurate Voting Services has historical ties to the Tinnelly Law Group, as its former owner was Cathy Tinnelly. In fact the new owner/CEO of Accurate Voting Services who took over the business in April 2022 and her staff recently participated in a Team Tinnelly luncheon and round table discussion regarding HOA Elections on September 14th.
Wasn’t the Tinnelly Law Group the former law firm hired by the Sevilla Board of Directors to reject recall efforts in April 2022 and then assisted the HOA in rejecting a May 2022 recall effort of several board directors but allowed the fraudulent Recall Election against an African American board director to move forward last fall. At some point in November 2022 before the Recall Election, the Tinnelly Law Group was no longer representing the Sevilla HOA. Instead the Board of Directors hired Attorney David Cain, who has subsequently been replaced by the law firm of Iger, Wankel, and Bonkowski. What is going on? Are any homeowners aware of what is going on? Has there been any disclosure by the Board of Directors regarding these constant changes? How has the Board of Directors been accountable to the homeowners they represent when there have been no disclosures or explanations with all of these changes?
A homeowner then asks, is there a conflict of interest with Accurate Voting Services representing the Sevilla HOA as Inspector of Elections? Are there employees of Accurate that formerly worked for Cathy Tinnelly? Who will represent Accurate as Inspector of Elections at our Annual Election?
It is apparent that the current board is unaware of these connections or simply doesn’t care.
Given the recent pattern of board decision-making as it relates to elections, it doesn’t surprise this homeowner that the board still can’t get things right and that there is an appearance of a lack of election integrity.
